If their demands are not met by the end of the sixth month, pensioners in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are announcing possible protests in front of the FBiH Government building in Sarajevo.
“The government humiliated us so much that we are ashamed to walk with that 1.55 percent. It’s a shame, a pensioner received 8 marks in four months, said Mustafa Trakić, president of the Association of Pensioners ZDK”.
Due to dissatisfaction with low pensions in relation to daily life needs and expenses, as well as due to the latest increase in pensions of a total of 6.55 percent, pensioners are now demanding an extraordinary increase, changes to the articles of the Law on PiO related to regular and extraordinary adjustment of pensions. Also, the pensioners are asking for a one-time financial aid of 200 BAM for pensioners with pensions up to 1000 BAM, and a payment of 100 BAM for pensioners with a pension of more than 1000 BAM.
“Pensioners expected much more. We had a conversation with the Government of the Federation and we told them legally… The problem of low pensions remains, and the cost of living is still rising, said Redžo Mehić, president of the FBiH Pensioners’ Association.”
In addition, the additional requests of all cantonal pensioner associations will be considered in two days at the meeting of the Association of Associations of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.
