During the official visit of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel to B&H, she visited the Gallery 11/7/1995 and met with representatives of the Association “Mothers of Srebrenica”. However, citizens who welcomed the German politician in the center of Sarajevo attracted  most of the attention.

After the applause and greetings in front of the Presidency of B&H, Merkel, accompanied by Denis Zvizdić, went to the Gallery, and after this visit spent some time handshaking with the gathered citizens.

Although according to the agenda she was due to leave, Merkel spent some time at this location with a smile on her face while the citizens addressed her in German, giving their thanks, applauded her, shook hands with her and took photographs. One of the women even gave her a hug and kiss.

All of this happened in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral, in the presence of many tourists, including some Germans.

During the visit to the Memorial Gallery Srebrenica 11/07/95, Merkel asked someone to explain to her what is the evil that man can do to another man.

One of the survivors, Hasan Nuhanović from Srebrenica, briefly explained to Chancellor Merkel what happened in Srebrenica 20 years ago, presented and analyzed the exhibited photos and the suffering, sorrow, and pain of the people of Srebrenica.
