People of Sarajevo: Photos by Imrana Kapetanović Tells Stories About People in Sarajevo

peopleofsarajevoThere are few of us who have time to stop, look around and watch our fellow citizens, what they are thinking, fantasizing, what makes them happy…You can find this out now thanks to the project People of Sarajevo, whose author is photographer Imrana Kapetanović.

Inspired by the project Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton, who made portraits of citizens of New York alongside a short story about them, Kapetanović decided to represent the citizens of Sarajevo in a similar way.

‘’The photographs are taken when I am out on the streets, approach people and ask them if I can take a picture. For those who say yes, I usually ask a question to make the story complete, and I try to ask interesting questions’’, said Kapetanović for portal klix.ba.

She said that reactions have been very positive, which she might not have expected due to the fact that ‘’our people are always prepared to criticize’’.

‘’Most people generally like the project, and I strive to have the photographs be as simple as possible and to tell a story’’, said Kapetanović.

On the Facebook site, one photograph is published every day. Until now, they have only been the faces of Sarajevo, but Kapetanović plans to expand the project to differnet parts of the city.

If you want to be a part of this interesting project, send a message to Kapetanović through her Facebok profile and arrange for a photo session, and all the photos taken so far can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/People-of-Sarajevo/252188054935165?id=252188054935165&sk=photos_stream.
