Pierluigi Collina visited Sarajevo on Wednesday, and ended up being pleasantly surprised by its beauty, buildings and night lights.
In an interview, Collina revealed details of his visit to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the legendary referee commented on today’s world of football as well.
I am impressed by the beauty of Sarajevo, which is experience I was really waiting for. Yesterday I was in a restaurant overlooking the city, and night view on the Sarajevo is something really amazing. Unfortunately, I came yesterday and I have to go back today, “said Collina.
His hosts made sure that Italian legend is not going back until he tries some of traditional Bosnian cuisine, which he was very satisfied with.
“I tried baklava and prefer the Bosnian compared to a Turkish version, because it is less sweet. I tried grilled lamb and cheese pie in a restaurant that I mentioned before, and there is still a lot of things that I liked as well. As for the Bosnian cuisine I think I will enjoy the kebabs before I go back, since everyone is talking about them. Without trying them, I just cannot go back, “explained Collina.
Collina is a member of the UEFA Referees Committee and the head of referees for the Football Federation of Ukraine.
He also mentioned some of the best of Bosnian football referees who judge today under the auspices of UEFA, such as Irfan Peljto and Edin Jakupović who are working hard and, as Collina hopes, will become an important part of a large team of referees and the future of UEFA.
