The Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, said that for years Croatia has been the strongest, biggest advocate and friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina when it comes to accelerating its membership in the European Union.
Plenković stated that their visit today serves as an incentive first of all to the Council of Ministers of BiH, but also to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH to enact certain laws in the coming weeks, to undertake certain reform efforts in order to provide arguments to the European Commission President Leyen that in the report they will prepare for the heads of state and government, who will meet in Brussels on March 21 and 22, create preconditions to reach a consensus among the 27 member states on the opening of negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He added that in the past two years, major changes have taken place when it comes to enlargement policy, and that the changed context, including the negotiation methodology, gives Bosnia and Herzegovina a chance to catch up with other countries in Southeast Europe.
“My impression is that in the coming weeks, with the support of all of us, but above all with the political assumption of responsibility and the identification of all actors in the political life of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and especially the ruling coalition, we will get exactly the arguments for that decision to be made in March,” he emphasized.
He noted that if March is missed, this whole year will probably be missed in terms of making positive decisions about Bosnia and Herzegovina.
