Police Officers in BiH marked Police Day by Donating Blood

On the occasion of April 4, the Republika Srpska Police Day, about 70 members of the police from Doboj and Derventa donated blood for the needs of the Doboj hospital. Although voluntary donors in this BH entity exempted from payment of co-payments in health care, the police officers who donated blood emphasize that they do so solely for the sake of humanity and the knowledge that in this way they can save someone’s life.

As in all previous years, members of the police marked Police Day by donating blood for the needs of the General Hospital “St. Apostol Luka” in Doboj.

“I am motivated by that humane gesture that it is necessary to help someone in those circumstances, or rather difficulties, in trouble, and therefore I personally feel good after donating blood,” says Radovan Radešić, inspector at Police Department Doboj.

Along with the Doboj police, the police from Derventa also responded to the action.

“The fact is that we should be humane and help each other because our little means a lot to someone, just as this blood that we donate today can save someone’s life,” emphasized Bojana Đukić, a member of Police Station Derventa.

Voluntary blood donors are not particularly valued here either. However, they enjoy some benefits.

“They have their own benefits in the sense that they are exempt from paying co-payments for one year after donating blood, and those who have donated blood ten or more times are permanently exempt from paying co-payments,” said transfusionist Božidar Slavujević.

In the three-day operation, about 70 policemen gave blood. With the actions of the Red Cross and the Association of Voluntary Donors, supplies are at a satisfactory level, they point out in the Doboj hospital.
