The project of the World Bank “Bosnia Energy Efficiency Project” has been implemented in the FBiH since the year of 2016, and  29 public facilities were renovated within it, while 15 new facilities are planned for this year.

The total investment in the construction works amounted to 13 million BAM, while the total estimate of savings for these objects was 1.6 million BAM per year. Numerous benefits have been achieved during the three years of the project, from energy savings, increase of comfort and quality of stay for more than 220,000 users, to reduce of CO2 emissions, and opening of new workplaces, which tells us a lot about the importance of energy efficiency for BH society.

Besides the successful implementation of the project through the renovation of public facilities, the goal of the project is to show the benefits of energy efficiency and support the development of sustainable models of project financing of energy efficiency. Therefore, a roundtable on the topic “Sustainable Financing Models of Energy Efficiency in FBiH” was held in Sarajevo in the organization of “Bosnia Energy Efficiency Project” and the Ministry of Physical Planning of the FBiH.

“Implementation of measures of energy efficiency will save the money of the end-users, and they will be able to use these funds later for some other purposes. Besides activities on the reconstruction of public facilities in the FBiH, it is very important to implement the mechanism of a sustainable system of financing through this project from the savings achieved by the effects of energy efficiency,” stated Mustafa Copelj, head of the “Bosnia Energy Efficiency Project” for the FBiH, and he added that potentials for savings in the public sector, or budget of the FBiH, amount to around 40 million BAM on an annual level, while the total potential for investments is 400-500 million BAM.

The Implementation Unit “Bosnia Energy Efficiency Project” will also present these models to the Managing Board of the project, as well as to the Government of the FBiH, after which will be selected one sustainable model that consultants will develop for implementation.
