Powerful 6.2 Earthquake hits Japanese Region

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale shook the Japanese region of Koshima today.

The quake struck at an average depth of 70.6 kilometers below the epicenter, and no tsunami warning was issued, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

According to preliminary seismic data, the quake was felt by many people near the epicenter, and there is no information about the consequences so far.
