The documentary film “Mostarska lasta”, authored by Muhamed Bikić and produced by Federal Television in Mostar, will premiere as part of the program “Documentary Thursday” on February 26 at 8:25 p.m.

“Mostarska lasta” is a cinematic record of tradition, heritage and the unbreakable bond between Mostar, the Neretva River and generations of jumpers who have been defying heights for decades. The film pays tribute to the legendary “Mostar swallows,” symbols of courage and sporting pride, whose jumps from the Old Bridge have long represented more than a sport – an act of identity, defiance and love for the city, even in its most difficult times.

“At one time, in one of the interviews, the legendary Emir Balić told us that he never wanted to jump from the new bridge out of respect for the Old Bridge, and that Lorens Listo would have stopped at his 13th victory so they could remain equal record holders. It was precisely because of such unforgettable decisions that we began working on this new sports documentary for Federal Television, which will surely remain in memory just like the ‘Sarajevo Olympics.’ These are our greatest brands when it comes to sporting events in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Bikić.

Through authentic archival footage and powerful testimonies, the film revisits the era when jumping from the Stari Most was far more than an athletic feat. It was a symbol of resilience and unity in the heart of Mostar.

In addition to archival material featuring Emir Balić, recorded during the 2004 reconstruction of the Old Bridge for the cult show “Sportski vremeplov,” the film also includes new footage of Lorens Listo, who introduced Ahmet Stubac as a successor of the younger generation of brave Neretva jumpers, confirming that the spirit of the Old Bridge lives on.

The soundtrack features the cult song “Stari” by legendary Bosnian singer-songwriter Zlatan Fazlić Fazla, while the documentary concludes with a song from the poetry collection “Tabakera” by Jasminka Šipka, interpreted in her recognizable style.

The cinematographer was Nedim Begtašević, sound was handled by Amir Ćefo, editing by Dario Marjanović, with credits by Adnan Dedić and editorial guidance from Namik Kabil.

Muhamed Bikić, editor of the Sports Department of Federal Television, is also the author of a series of notable documentaries, including “Keli,” “Hase,” “Škija,” “Sports Greetings from Sarajevo,” “Željina stotka,” “Sports Ambassadors of BiH,” “Čobo,” “Olympics in Sarajevo,” “Bulevar Ivice Osima” and now “Mostarska lasta,” continuing his distinctive and award-recognized documentary style.
