Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that the heightened security alert is likely to remain in place until tomorrow, July 2nd, following the incident in which a crossbow-wielding attacker wounded a police officer outside the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade on Saturday.

“I believe everything will be resolved by Tuesday, and everything will be fine,” Vucic said, highlighting that further arrests related to the incident are anticipated.

The red level of terrorist threat signifies increased police presence and security measures at all public places.

During the attack on the Embassy, the assailant was shot dead by a police officer, who was also injured. The officer’s condition is currently stable. The police have classified the attack as a terrorist act.

The deceased attacker was identified as Milos Zujovic, who Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic described as a “convert from Mladenovac,” a municipality in Belgrade.

‘Crossbow purchased the day before the attack’

Dacic and Israeli Ambassador Yahel Vilan visited the injured police officer yesterday.

Following the visit, Dacic stated that a receipt confirming the purchase of the crossbow was found in the attacker’s home, indicating it was bought “the day before the terrorist act in a shop in Zemun.”

He reiterated that several individuals have been arrested so far, RSe writes.
