The aim of the award is to encourage the preparation of quality journalistic works on the topic of technology and thereby place technological quality and innovation on a higher level in society. Furthermore the scheme aims to promote the professional journalists who report on technological issues and thus contribute to providing the public with a better understanding of the importance of technology for the competitiveness and sustainability of BH’s society.
This year, for the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the company Siemens Sarajevo Ltd. is organizing a competition for the Siemens Press Award. The competition is open to all interested journalists who send their copyright works on the topic of “Energy Efficiency”. These works on this subject should have been published between September 1st 2014 and September 1st 2015. Submissions can also be texts in print media, stories of agency journalists, as well as reports published in the electronic media.
As a leader in the field of innovation, through competitions like this one, Siemens aims to affirm writing and investigative journalism, but also to reward knowledge, awareness and research based work. “Technology and technological innovation are an essential element of the competitiveness and viability of all countries, including the society of BH, and journalists with their quality work contribute in a way that the general public recognizes them as such. Technological issues and journalists who report on these topics deserve lots of recognition from the public and our reward will contribute to this”, said Mladen Fogec, the CEO of Siemens Sarajevo Ltd. Sarajevo.
The authors of the awarded works from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia, declared winners by the jury in each country, will be awarded with a joint study trip to Denmark, where they will be able to familiarize themselves with the latest technologies for the production of energy from wind.
The jury will be composed of representatives of Siemens Ltd. Sarajevo, experts in the field of economy and energy, and professional journalists. The jury members are:

- Sanjin Avdić, a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Sarajevo; UNDP Sector Leader Energy & Environment; Energy Efficiency Expert
- Ozren Kebo, Media Development Expert
