Pride Parade Today in Sarajevo, Counter Meeting kicks off too

Third BH pride parade under the slogan “Family reunion!” is being held today in Sarajevo, and the gathering of participants began at 3 pm.

The organizers announced that the topic was chosen in the hope that through discussion and questioning, it will provide a broader dimension of what the family is today, because when it comes to the rights of LGBTIQ + people, it is impossible not to talk about the family.

“What makes us happy is that in Bosnia and Herzegovina there are parents who unconditionally love their LGBTIQ + children, and recognize their autonomy, encourage their exploration of authenticity, and thus release them, without closing the door and not denying them the opportunity to return. Such children have a greater opportunity to grow into self-confident people, who live with a sense of greater value. We are proud to announce that you will be able to see some of these parents in our campaign this year,” the organizers announced.

The counter meeting was held in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Otoka.

“Today we are here as organizers of an anti-LGBT rally called ‘Give us back the rainbow’. This is the day of the traditional normal family. We oppose not violently, but verbally. We do not agree with LGBT values that are imposed quite violently, radically,” Sanin Musa, the organizer, said.

According to him, the Pride Parade will be broadcast live by many television companies, while the gathering at Otoka will not be.

For Musa, the above is an indication that LGBTIQ values are being radically imposed. He previously informed that the protest walk from the Otoka to Wilson’s promenade had been given up, and he pointed out the high temperatures as the reason for that.

Those present at the gathering were addressed by the organizers and, as stated, prizes were awarded to children and their parents. The rally lasted until 12 o’clock. Such gatherings were held during the previous Pride Parade in Sarajevo.

The Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton announced that it has taken the necessary measures and actions within its competence to implement the planned activities, in terms of ensuring the said public gathering and traffic regulation, which will be completely or partially suspended from 12 to 21 o’clock, in the streets, ie localities in accordance with the decision of the competent ministry.

It was pointed out that a sufficient number of police officers from the Police Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior of the Sarajevo Canton and partner agencies were engaged for the purpose of securing the said gathering.
