Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH comments On The “Spengavanje” Affair

If they think someone will scare us away from investigating crime, we will not give up, said the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), Nermin Niksic.

Nermin Niksic, the Prime Minister of the FBiH, addressed the media after the agenda of yesterday’s session of the FBiH House of Representatives on the disputed messages in which he participated, that is, on the Spengavanje affair, was not adopted.

He emphasized that the FBiH Government and the Office of the Prime Minister have completely transparently invited all competent institutions to check the messages from which, as he says, an affair is being attempted to be created.

“The question of where the prime minister gets the right to ask that someone be brought to justice, not speaking specifically about any individual but generally about criminals, raises the question of who is bothered by this and who wants to forbid the prime minister from doing his job. The Law on Internal Affairs explicitly says that the director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP) is accountable for his work to the minister and the FBiH Government,” said Niksic.

He repeated his earlier position that everyone should be held accountable for their actions.

“I am glad that today I heard some opposition representatives who supported POSKOK. I do not want to remind them that they had eight years to form that special department. It took ten years for the prime minister who had pushed for the adoption of that law to return,” he said.

He believes that scandals are constantly being created and that he would do nothing else if he had to respond to them.

“They appeared because there is nothing that can be reproached to the federal government when it comes to the economic situation, meeting the demands for relieving the economy, the minimum wage, adopting the draft law on fiscalization, etc. Those who have reasons are now probably afraid and looking for ways to challenge it,” Niksic said.

He says that the Government of the FBiH has not hired anyone unlawfully.

“I agree that the government should always be the first to be checked. I claim that we have not, but let it be checked. If they think someone will scare us away from investigating crime, we will not give up. I can hardly wait for the opportunity to give a statement in that process because I am sure that the FBiH Government has not done anything unlawful,” he emphasized.
