Project “Waste is Taste”, Fashion and Cultural Potential of the Packaging Waste

downloadB&H and regional artists held in Počitelj from 26th to 30th August, the workshop “Waste is Taste” with the desire to show the cultural, fashion and esthetic potential of packaging waste and other non-biodegradable materials.

The workshop took place five days in the open, under supervision of the Association for the promotion of cultural creativity “Mlaz”. The last day of the workshop was marked by an exhibition which presented the creations.

The general sponsor of the project “Waste is Taste” is “Ekopak”, the first authorized provider of packaging waste management system in FB&H.

The founder of the project and the workshop is a young B&H designer Jasminka Hadžimehmedović, while the works at the exhibition were presented by designers: Katarina Bogdanović (Belgrade), Jasminka Hadžimehmedović (Sarajevo), Ivana Lazarević (Belgrade) and Nevena Nikolić (Sarajevo).

The special guest of the workshop was the product designer and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Salih Teskeredžić.

“I am very pleased with the outcome of this year’s workshop. The participants were creative so even this year we have great creations. I was very pleased when our guests from Belgrade reserved in advance their place to participate in the project “Waste is Taste” 2014. After a successful exhibition in the garden of MLAZ in Počitelj, in Sarajevo in October will be able to see the creations exposed by the artists from the Association for artists Bellarte”, said the fashion designer Jasminka Hadžimehmedović .

General sponsor of the project “Waste is Taste” , the company ” Ekopak ” during the exhibition provided baskets for collection of packaging waste which were placed at two locations in Počitelj.


” Ekopak ” with pleasure supports all the projects that show the importance of recycling and re- utilization of packaging waste. With pleasure, we accepted to sponsor the project “Waste is Taste” in which young designers use packaging waste for their creation. We expect through this project to show to the public that recycling means using materials that otherwise would have ended up in landfill, and in this way we will raise awareness regarding packaging waste”, said the director of ” EKOPAK ” Amela Hrbat, was announced by organizers.
