The former first man of Sarajevo, and the current BiH ambassador to Qatar, Abdulah Skaka, is suspected, among other things, of giving a gift in connection with the election of the chairman of the City Council, and everything so that Bogić Bogićević could not be elected mayor of Sarajevo, was confirmed for N1 by the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Sarajevo Canton.

On Tuesday, members of the Ministry of Interior of Canton Sarajevo deprived Skaka of freedom on suspicion of committing several criminal acts: abuse of position, unscrupulous work in the service, forgery of official documents, giving gifts and other forms of benefits.

Unofficially, N1 also learns that he is suspected of illegally hiring advisers, spending budget money, that he used money for returnees to bring lighting to his cottage, for falsifying reports and several other actions.

Shortly after the former mayor of Sarajevo was arrested, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović initiated activities related to his dismissal from the position of ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the State of Qatar.

The procedure will be carried out in accordance with the current regulations that regulate that area, respecting the presumption of innocence and the jurisdiction of the judicial authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bećirović’s office announced.

“The final decision on the dismissal of Ambassador Skaka and the appointment of a new ambassador will be made by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with its competences,” stated Hoda Dedić, advisor for foreign policy to the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Skaka is the second high-ranking official of the SDA, as well as the ambassador, who was arrested recently. Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Malaysia and former mayor of Ilidža Senaid Memić was arrested on suspicion of having committed a number of criminal acts and was sentenced to one month’s detention. The Mayor of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, is currently behind bars.
