Within the Initiative Citizens for Europe, on Thursday 24 October 2013, a Public discussion on Energy and environment in the process of European integration will be held, with expected participation of some fifty representatives of relevant government institutions, agencies and organisations of civil society. The discussion will aim to assess the progress in the domain of energy and environment in BiH, as well as look into key problems and priority steps which ought to be taken in line with the process of accession to the European Union.
The initiative Citizens for Europe is being realised under the auspices of the EU Special representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Peter Sorensen and with support of the Embassy of Sweden and SIDA. This year, once again, the Initiative is led by the expert team of Vesta, Tuzla.
This year, in the sector of Energy and Environment, the Citizens for Europe, aim their activities towards achievement of the three priority goals by the end of 2013 and ask the relevant institutions: to approve the Draft National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP); for the entity funds for environmental protection to adopt new rules for financing projects in the sector of energy efficiency; to secure concrete progress in documenting the forest fund, as well as implementation of the obligations from the EU Directive on forests cutting and harmonisation of the regulations in view of protecting wood-processing industry.
The Initiative Citizens for Europe is a unique action of the civil society in BiH aimed at advancing the process of European integration and intensifying the activities of the governmental officials in implementation of the necessary reforms.
