ramazan_bThe Sarajevo Philharmonic this season will have many reasons to show their satisfaction. The season was very successful, the Sarajevo public had a chance to see top soloists and conductors, and visits to philharmonic concerts broke all records.

In addition, Sarajevo Philharmonic said that this year, in which the Philharmonic is marking its 90 years of existence, it has instruments in its possession for the first time.

The Sarajevo Philharmonic will close the 2012/2013 season with a traditional Ramadan concert that is being organized for the 18th time.

“Regardless of how difficult it was to find a program that would satisfy the form and criteria for such a concert, Sarajevo Philharmonic has been successful in this for the last few years, and we had the opportunity to listen to the complete orchestral works inspired by Islamic spirituality and culture’’, said in a statement.

For this XVIII concert, there will be a performance by the “Symphony Ilahija” by young and talented Turkish composer Oğuzhan Balcia.

The wonderful way in which Balcia represents traditional music in symphony form is one of the exponents of Turkish culture today.

“The symphony that the public will get the chance to hear is woven Sufi verses in which music is just a platform for its path to the universe’’, said the Director of the Sarajevo Philharmonic Samra Gulamović.

On 6 July in the National Theatre in Sarajevo, the public will have the chance to listen to soprano singer at Adem Pljevljak Krehić, champion of the state opera in Ankara tenor singer Şenol Talinlija, and bass Arda Aydoğa, a leader in the Istanbul cultural scene.

A choir will accompany the performers during the concert.

In the foyer of the National Theatre, the Museum of Sarajevo and the Sarajevo Philharmonic will present an exhibition called ‘Testimony of Beauty’ by BiH artist Meliha Teparić, whose interest’s range in order to preserve tradition and to spread awareness of BiH cultural identity through art and culture, nurturing artistic expression through traditional calligraphic expression.
