“The statements made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Elmedin Konakovic do not contribute to regional stability but instead represent an attempt to artificially create a conflict atmosphere,” Dusan Kozarev said yesterday, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia.
During a meeting with the Ambassador of BiH to Serbia in Belgrade, Aleksandar Vranjes, Kozarev pointed out that Sarajevo’s “constant effort” to portray Serbia and the Serbian people through “anachronistic narratives” as threats to Bosniak interests is not truthful. He further stated that Konakovic’s tendency to direct barbs at Serbia, even in the most trivial situations, indicates a lack of political seriousness and responsibility.
According to Kozarev, Serbia will persistently offer a hand of cooperation to all foreign friends and partners, especially neighbors, convinced that, despite all disagreements, a stable and prosperous Western Balkans and a European future are common interests of all peoples in the region.
During the meeting, Kozarev addressed the most current topics and issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of improving overall relations with BiH, building institutional ties, and fostering cooperation in the areas of economy, infrastructure, and culture, as stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia.
He reiterated Serbia’s strong commitment to maintaining regional stability and dialogue as the best means to resolve all open issues, and he expressed Serbia’s unequivocal support for the Dayton Peace Agreement.
Kozarev concluded that the first step towards establishing a normal climate for the development of political and economic relations between Serbia and BiH is to refrain from provocative and inflammatory statements.
