After more than 20 years, Bosnia and Herzegovina still has more than 100 collective centers. In this year, the reconstruction of collective center in the Sarajevo settlement Hrasnica and construction of 30 new apartments is planned.
The solution was promised by the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Sarajevo Canton, which announced the reconstruction of the center and the construction of new apartments. According to the Minister Alma Dautbegović, the existing facility will not be evicted as it was speculated in the public, but reconstructed.
Within the program “Closing the collective centers in BiH”, the Ministry nominated the project “Reconstruction of the facility of the collective center in Hrasnica”. Within this project, construction of circa 30 apartments (single-room, two bedroom and three bedroom apartments) is planned.
“The mentioned program will be financed by the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) in the amount of 60 million EUR and we hope it will be implemented in this year. In the coming period, the Ministry will sign an agreement on cooperation in implementation of this project with the Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees of FBiH and the Municipality of Ilidža,” Dragović said.
The Minister added that, after the completed reconstruction of the facility, the current users of temporary accommodation in the collective center and a certain number of families that use some other kinds of alternative accommodation at the territory of the Sarajevo Canton will move in. during the reconstruction of the collective center in Hrasnica, the Ministry will cover the costs of temporary residence for all current users of the accommodation.
Organized by the Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees of FBiH, a meeting was held in December last year with the topic “Implementation of the project CEB II – Closing the collective centers in BiH” and harmonization of the text of the Agreement on implementation of the project of reconstruction of the facility of collective center in Hrasnica.
It was concluded at the meeting that, with the implementation of this project, the last collective center in jurisdiction of the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Sarajevo Canton will be closed in this year.
