Reconstruction of Water Supply to Begin in Fall?

The Supply Network in Sarajevo is rendered obsolete and damaged from the war. These are the reasons that the KJKP Water and Canalization company pointed to for water losses up to 70 percent.

They announced that around 80 kilometers of water networks would be replaced, which is 7 percent of the total length of the network in the Canton area.

The company announced a solution to this problem, and work will first be carried out on pipelines that have reported frequent failure rates and a larger loss of water.

Funds are planned to be received from EBRD credit, which amounts to around 30 million euros to realize the project from short works investment programs that was done by this company. As long as all conditions are met with the bank, it is realistic to expect that work will begin at the beginning of Fall 2013.

The water supply networks in the zones of Bjelave, a part of Skenderija, municipality Novi Grad and transport pipelines from 1960 near Alipašin bridge to the Center would be reconstructed. In the second year water networks would be fixed in areas in Skenderija, Kovačići, Hrid, Pogledine, and in the third network in zone Hambina Carina, writes Oslobođenje.

Replacements of the parts of the supply network will reduce the loss of water in that part of the city. In the meantime, the reduction of water loss for the entire system at an annual level would amount to around 5 percent, said the KJKP Water and Canalization Company for Oslobođenje.
