Sarajevo International Airport has achieved another significant milestone. In October 2026, the airport handled 189,472 passengers—a 4.4% increase compared to the same month last year—making it the most successful October in the history of Sarajevo International Airport.

Regarding cargo traffic, 346,331 kg of freight and mail was processed during this period, representing a 31% increase over the same period last year.

This record-breaking October result confirms the positive trends in passenger traffic that Sarajevo International Airport has experienced throughout 2026. This positive trend is further evidenced by the fact that, from January to October 2026, a total of 1,973,069 passengers were handled—a 1% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

These results underscore the continuous development of Sarajevo International Airport, the strengthening of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s international connectivity, and the growing confidence of both passengers and airlines.

With the commencement of the winter flight schedule, which took effect on October 25, 2026, the network of destinations from Sarajevo continues to expand. During the winter season, flights will operate to 18 destinations in partnership with 14 airlines; furthermore, starting in December, passengers will have access to new Wizz Air routes to Bratislava, Berlin, and Prague.

Sarajevo International Airport is now approaching another significant milestone. The two-millionth passenger of 2026 is expected to be welcomed as early as this week—a further testament to a successful year for the busiest airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The upcoming winter months are traditionally a period of somewhat lower passenger traffic, while the expansion of the destination network is set to continue as early as the spring. New routes to Geneva and Basel have already been announced, with additional destinations to be revealed in due course.

Sarajevo International Airport extends its gratitude to all passengers, partners, and employees whose trust and dedicated work have contributed to achieving record-breaking results and the successful development of the largest airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
