Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has exported 5,365,664 kilograms of weapons and ammunition last year in amount of 205 million KM (114.6 million U.S. dollars), was stated in the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry report on special purpose industry companies on Thursday.
The report highlights Saudi Arabia as the largest buyer of 1,953,148 kilograms of weapons and ammunition in amount of almost 75 million KM (41.9 million U.S. dollars).
On the second place is Turkey, with 1,010,912 kg of weapons and ammunition in amount of 29.4 million KM (16.4 million U.S. dollars), while Egypt is on the third place with 572, 371 kg and 24 million KM (13.4 million U.S. dollars).
The companies mainly exported shooting and hunting ammunition, military weapons, firearms, bombs, grenades and missiles, withrevenues of export last year amounting to 210 million KM (117.3 million U.S. dollars) which is 4.0 percent increase year-on-year.
The report states that all companies producing weapons and ammunition operated positively, except one, all realizing profit of almost 26 million KM (14.5 million U.S. dollars).
All companies employ a total of 3,680 workers.
In 2017, exports amounted to 193.8 million KM (108.3 million U.S. dollars), about 22 million KM (12.2 million U.S. dollars) more than in 2016, when the value of exports was 171 million KM (95.5 million U.S. dollars), the country’s Foreign Trade Chamber stated in a report.
Saudi Arabia was the main buyer of BiH weapons in 2017 and Egypt in 2016. (1 U.S. dollar=1.79 KM)
