In the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), final preparations are underway for the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF).

Yesterday, a red carpet was rolled out in front of the National Theater in Sarajevo, signaling the upcoming start of the 30th edition of the SFF.

The SFF begins on Friday, August 16th, and will open with the film “My Late Summer” by BiH Oscar-winning director Danis Tanovic.

In four competition categories – feature, documentary, short, and student films – a total of 54 films will compete for the Heart of Sarajevo awards at this year’s 30th SFF, with three films being screened out of competition.

Among these, 19 films will have their world premiere, nine their international premiere, three their European premiere, 23 their regional premiere, and three their BiH premiere.

This year, among others, Sarajevo will welcome Meg Ryan, John Turturro, and Alexander Payne.

Last year’s SFF was marked by visits from Bono and The Edge from U2, as well as journalist Christiane Amanpour. The best feature film of the 29th SFF was “Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry” by Elene Naveriani.

The Heart of Sarajevo award for best director was won by Philip Sotnychenko for “La Palisiada.”

The Sarajevo Film Festival will be held from August 16th to 23rd.
