Red Cross has greatly contributed to Migration Management in BiH

The Red Cross of the Una-Sana Canton (USC) organized a conference entitled ‘The role and influence of the structure of the Red Cross of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its partners in the humanitarian response to the migrant crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2018 – 2022’.

President of the Red Cross of the Una-Sana Canton, Husein Kličić, says that when it comes to the migrant crisis, they have been constant partners of the state and all international organizations from day one.

“I especially want to stress the three most difficult segments or moments of the migrant crisis in the Una-Sana Canton, which has borne the greatest burden in the past four years. These were the situations in Trnovo center in Velika Kladuša, Vučjak center in 2019, and the locality of Lipa after the fire. In these situations, if it were not for the structures of the Red Cross, a humanitarian disaster would certainly have occurred. I will remind you that in these most difficult situations, all international organizations have participated in helping migrants, and the Red Cross has remained with its local partners and citizens,” emphasized Kličić.

Representatives of the BiH Ministry of Security also believe that the Red Cross made a huge contribution to migration management, that is, humanitarian response during the crisis.

Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton, Mustafa Ružnić, emphasized that the Red Cross organizations fully justify their role and existence in all crises, which was confirmed during the coronavirus pandemic, the recent floods, but also their daily activities towards socially vulnerable categories of the population.

At today’s conference in Bihać, apart from members of the Red Cross organizations, almost all actors in the migration management process in our country participated, including representatives of almost all levels of government and international organizations.
