Regional Seminar on Participation of Civilians in Peace Support Operations Started in Sarajevo

butmirCenter forSecurity Studies in Sarajevo(CSS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense of B&H and Training Centre for Peace Support Operations(PSOTC) organized the regional seminar“Development of civilian capacities to participate in peace support missions” which started today in premises of PSOTC/NATO camp in Butmir.

During the two-day seminar representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of B&H, representative of the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, representatives of NATO HQ Sarajevo, the representatives of Law Faculty, the representatives of B&H Court and the Council of Europe in B&H will address the audience consisting of members of the Expert Team B&H to prepare civilians fort heir involvement in peacekeeping operations, representatives of local institutions and ministries of interior and defense from the region.

The aim of the seminar is to improve understanding of the civil contribution with the focus on the rule of law in peace-support operations. Also, the emphasis will be on promoting the democratic process and assistance in the reconciliation process.
