The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a reception on the occasion of the Eid Al-Adha last night at the premises of the Riyasat of Islamic Community Sarajevo. Reis ul-Ulema Husein Effendi Kavazović traditionally congratulated this Islamic holiday.
While addressing numerous invitees, Kavazović said that people in BiH can achieve their goal with renunciation and joint efforts, and the aim is a society of justice and equality and a country of prosperity and satisfied people.
He emphasized the importance of the strengthening of inter religious dialogue in BIH society, pointing to the traditional morale: do not do to other people things that you do not want other people to do to you. Kavazović said that this morale obliges people to behave in the spirit of brotherhood and unity.
Kavazović reminded of the importance of the Inter-religious Council in BiH and expressed special gratitude for the achievements of its members, headed by the Cardinal Vinko Puljić.
Kavazović also expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to share joy of Eid with the neighbors Jews and Christians whom he appreciates as the followers of the God’s word and the people with whom he competes in doing good deeds and in piety.
“Religion teaches us that we, believers, must do the greatest sacrifice and show the greatest patience which, I admit, is not easy to do,” Kavazović said.
Furthermore, Kavazović said that the Islamic Community in BiH wants to encourage leaders from all nations in BiH to talk and make agreements, looking at BiH as a joint good that has to be available to everyone and that must not be jeopardized by anyone.
“Peace is the most important word and term in BiH, because here peace means life,” Kavazović emphasized.
The reception was attended by the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović, member of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanić, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić, representatives of religious communities in BiH, as well as many other officials and representatives of political, public and cultural life in BiH.
