In the Adana region, there are close to 30,000 descendants of Bosniaks, whose ancestors started immigrating to Turkey more than one hundred and thirty years ago. Al Jazeera’s team visited one of the Bosniak villages, right on the border with Syria.

The Al Jazeera team visited one of the Bosniak villages, the village of Hamitbeybucagi (Hamitbejbucagi), right on the border with Syria, and talked with its inhabitants about the consequences of the earthquake that hit this country on February 6th.

The inhabitants of this village are mostly from Cazin. The inhabitants still speak the Bosnian language.

Only some damage from the earthquake can be seen. God, one can say, preserved their place.

Ibrahim Harbas remembers that horrible February 6th. ”It was 4:15 a.m. I was sleeping, and when I got up, it all started shaking.”

Despite all the misfortunes that befell them, they prepare old Bosnian dishes: sirnica, Krajina kvrgusa, beans.

A large number of their closest relatives, their children live in parts of the country where the consequences of the earthquake are unfathomable.
