Representatives of Business Delegation of Finland visit Sarajevo Canton

finskaA meeting between the business delegation of Finland headed by ambassador of Finland to Slovenia in charge of Finnish affairs in BiH Pekko Metso and representatives of Sarajevo Canton was held yesterday in Sarajevo, reports Fena.

During the meeting they discussed the implementation of energy sector projects, as well as waste management and water treatment project, rehabilitation and modernisation of remote heating in Sarajevo, using of biomass and waste as a source of energy.

Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Suad Zeljković heads the Sarajevo Canton delegation, together with FBIH Minister of  Energy, Mining and Industry Erdal Trhulj and Minister of Spatial Planning and Environment Zlatko Petrović and Minister of Economy Emir Hrenovica.

Zeljković noted since Sarajevo Canton is the only canton without its own energy source it is important to invest in projects that have the aim to rationalize the energy consumption.

Trhulj noted that FBiH Government made a plan to develop energy sector in FBIH which includes several new laws.

Hrenovica said that Sarajevo Canton Assembly adopted the Law on Forests which are very important and valuable source to Sarajevo Canton since 65% of the canton is forested.

Finnish ambassador said that Finland has developed the sector of renewable energy sources and clean energy sources primarily thanks to forests which are Finland’s greatest natural resource.

Petrović said that Sarajevo is BiH leader in solving environment issues and added that the canton is ready to cooperate with Finnish representatives in order to learn from their experiences.

During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of holding a seminar in September on topic ‘The best experiences of Finland concerning Energy Sources, Waste Management and Water Treatment’, reported the Press Service of Sarajevo Canton.
