These days, “Elektroprivreda of Republika Srpska” (RS) will present parts of an ambitious plan to accelerate the creation of energy independence through programs for subsidizing the installation of solar panels. Discussions about criteria are being held with businessmen, they are announcing a program for public institutions, and an invitation to the population has been announced these days. It includes the installation of solar panels for 50.000 households, which would be financed by Elektroprivreda RS, and the citizens would repay 60% of the value over ten years.
Household list and average monthly income of the household. That is enough to register in order to eventually become a consumer-producer of electricity or a prosumer. This will further depend on many factors. Do you have a building permit, a three-phase electricity connection, a favorable location of the building or surface… Households with lower incomes will have priority. The plan to implement the work in a year and a half, according to some assessments, is technically too ambitious.
Elektroprivreda RS plans to install solar power plants for commercial entities as well. The priority is 1.600 production plants. The third package includes hospitals and health centers, water supply systems, and religious buildings. They believe that lots will solve the problem of workload, at least for households.
”Of course, we are not naive that one man collects 50.000 and installs them all over RS in a year, but if we find five, ten contractors for five thousand each, we are sure that we will realize it in 10-12 months,” Luka Petrovic states, general director of Elektroprivreda RS.
Similar programs operate in Italy and Montenegro. They are useful for citizens because they do not have to provide additional money, but through reduced electricity bills they repay the investment and eventually become owners. Elektroprivreda RS would have surplus electricity, which it would sell on the market at several times higher prices. We asked a contractor who has been in this business for almost a decade how everything works on the market. How long does it take and how much is the investment worth?
”The average profitability of the system is 6-8 years, depending on the size of the system, the type of power plant, the needs of the end consumer, and the energy produced,” Dajana Milosevic said, strategic planning manager ETMAX.
Since the price of electricity in our country is below the market, especially for households, the investment repayment term is a bit longer. The cost of designing, installing, and putting it into operation is something that you will find difficult to get from the contractor because it depends on many factors.
