Residat: This Government has a Perspective in terms of Joint Work

residat2Minister of Culture and Sports recently requested a report on income of all the cultural institutions in the Canton Sarajevo (CS), with focus on theaters. On the basis of reports that were submitted, they concluded that the income of cultural institutions this year increased in comparison to the previous year. Residat emphasized that he is particularly pleased for showing that the income of cultural institutions may increase, especially because there was controversy at the beginning of his mandate that it is impossible.

He added that it is obvious that there is interest of citizens for cultural events, and he rejected allegations that the citizens of B&H do not recognize the culture. “Overall, the culture was neglected in the previous period, and also a good marketing and the selection of the better performances were missing as well. At the end, we have shown that we can improve the situation in culture, as well as in sports by hard work,” said Residat. Minister of Culture and Sport of CS emphasized that the ministry headed by him will focus on solving the accumulated issues in this sphere in the upcoming period.

Cantonal Ministries of Culture and Sports in the FB&H are not linked together, and Residat believes that it is necessary to make a joint database regarding the fact that it can happen that some of the associations apply for projects at the municipal, cantonal, federal and state level, and get the money at all levels. “There is no database where we could see how much money, for example, was approved for the project at the municipal level. Same applies to the federal and state level. I believe that it would save a lot of money by linking ministries, and that money could be redirected on other projects. I initiated this, but the cantonal level of authority is not so powerful to the extent to start with the realization. I think that there are a lot of misuse of applications related to the funding of projects and I will be persistent in the resolution of this issue,” said Residat.

Seven months have passed since the formation of the government of the Canton Sarajevo (CS), and Residat stated that no item on the agenda was not made without the consent of all Ministers at sittings of the Government of CS.

“This shows that this government has a perspective when it comes to working together. There is no outvoting and that is very important for every collective body. The fact is that no minister, nor the Prime Minister Konakovic has a magic wand to make things change so fast. There are laws, as well as this unnecessary cantonal, federal and state machine that slows down changes in the law, “said Residat.
