Returnees made a Headstone to a Migrant who drowned in the Sava River

The Bosniak returnee community in Kozarac near Prijedor have made a tombstone to the migrant Semiullah Arat, who drowned in the Sava River in 2022.

Arat left Afghanistan via the “Balkan route”, but unfortunately he drowned in a river in Bosnia and Herzegovina when he was only 20 years old.

The locals of Kozarac near Prijedor therefore made a tombstone for him at the cemetery in that place.

On the sight, it is written: “In an attempt to reach Europe, he drowned in the Sava river, near Bosanska Dubica”.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, in previous years, there were several cases of migrants drowning while crossing the border or for other reasons, and one of the more shocking cases was the drowning of a 5-year-old child in Una while his family was trying to reach Croatia.

Drowning of migrants is unfortunately a frequent occurrence in many rivers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also outside our country, considering that many die trying to find a better life.
