Rocket barrages were fired from Lebanon towards Israeli settlements in northern Israel on Friday, local media reported.

Israel’s Channel 12 reported that ten rockets were fired from Lebanon towards the settlement of Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel.

It is added that about 20 rockets were launched from Lebanon at Israeli border settlements.

Sirens sounded across northern Israel.

Israel’s army radio announced that since Friday morning more than 60 rockets had been fired from Lebanon towards border settlements in northern Israel.

The Israeli police stated that after the launch of rockets from Lebanon, fires broke out in several locations in the settlements in the north of Israel, without giving further details.

The cross-border fire has led to an exodus from Israeli border settlements.

Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in a cross-border war since the start of Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip, which has killed nearly 41,800 people, mostly women and children.

In Lebanon, at least 1,947 people were killed, almost 9,400 were wounded, and 1.2 million were displaced, according to data from the Lebanese authorities.

The international community has warned that Israeli attacks on Lebanon could escalate into a wider regional war.
