Round Table in Gorazde: Differences can connect and not separate

GorazdeMajlis of the Islamic community Gorazde and the Church community Gorazde organized round table “Together to the future” in the town on Drina River. Meeting that was attended by religious officials, educational workers and other guests from various municipalities, is part of the same project whose aim is contribution to the strengthening of trust, understanding and peace and building of a better future for all citizens of this country.

“Lack of knowledge on value in diversity leads to problems, such as lack of understanding, not accepting and ignoring the existence of others, animosity, fear and hostility. The absence of sense of shared values makes that members of the local communities lack the do not do enough towards their resolution until the problems have a negative impact on trust, understanding and responsibility for our common future,” is the message of the Round table.

Guest lecturers from the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Sarajevo and the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Saint Basil of Ostrog” in Foca spoke on the topic of what Islam and Christianity offer in the way towards common future.

Round table was attended by imams from four Majlis of the Islamic Community in B&H and four parish priests of the Serbian Orthodox Church, professors from primary and secondary schools from the area of 6 municipalities and the Inter-religious Council of B&H, CRS, the Municipality of Gorazde and the Municipality of Novo Gorazde.

There are many common values that are connecting, especially at a time when differences are on the price, as emphasized on the Round Table. The project “Together to the future” is supported by the USAID project PRO-Future. Planting of park trees in Gorazde and Novo Gorazde will be continued in March, and it will be done by young people, who have planned trip and historical clock on the tower of Herceg Stjepan Kosaca in Samobor in April.
