Members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, together with members of the Gendarmerie of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska (RS), displayed a set of interesting emblems.

Two days ago, the police presence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS undoubtedly aimed to send a message and intimidate members of state police and security agencies. There are numerous details indicating the sending of such a message, one of which could have had tragic consequences.

Namely, while near the ramp and gate of the RS Government building in Istocno Sarajevo, a photojournalist was approached by a member of the Gendarmerie who was carrying a rifle with the safety off.

Such an act is considered preparation for the use of firearms or a sign of a lack of knowledge in handling firearms. To make it look more convincing to journalists being pushed away from the site, the mentioned Gendarmerie member had the fire selector set to automatic fire mode.

Also, the same member was seen wearing an emblem featuring the symbol of Marvel’s antihero Punisher. What should be pointed out is that such symbols are very often and gladly used as protective symbols of paramilitary formations or members of criminal organizations.

The Punisher’s white skull symbolizes the use of force and violence to deliver justice outside and above the law, which is by no means a good message for a police organization.

As an additional form of reinforcing the overall symbolism, part of the Gendarmerie members wore Serbian flags on their helmets, while Special Anti-Terrorist Unit members had emblems of the Serbian Army on their backs.

The overall symbolism had a stronger impact because Special Anti-Terrorist Unit members came out to the field without masks, which is unusual for a police unit of this rank.

Special units designated for anti-terrorist operations usually move with balaclavas in order to preserve their identity, Klix.ba writes
