Russian authorities on Monday urged their citizens to leave Syria, where rebels have made rapid advances in recent days and captured several key cities from the Syrian army, which is backed by Russian forces.
The Russian embassy in Damascus urged its citizens to leave the country on commercial flights due to what it said was a difficult military and political situation.
The embassy added that its services in Damascus were continuing to operate normally.
