srebrenicaCollective funeral for victims of Srebrenica genocide genocide committed in Srebrenica in July 1995 was held in the Memorial Centre in Potocari, after which the remains of 127 victims were buried.

The funeral was led and performed by the Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH, Husein ef. Kavazovic, and more than 10,000 people came from all over the world to attend the funeral. A total of 6,377 victims were buried in Potocari so far.

Sadness, pain and sobs echoed thorugh the green valley, a place that testifies the monstrous deeds of the Army of Republika Srpska, which, supported by the military and paramilitary units from Serbia, committed genocide back in 1992, which has been declared, although Serbia still denies it.

According to data presented by the Mayor of Srebrenica Camil Durakovic at the memorial, they are still searching for around thousand victims of the Srebrenica genocide.

„This is the bloodiest date in the history of the suffering of Bosniaks. It’s hard to live in the heart of darkness, in the place which represents the last point of genocide. The dark spirit of crimes disturbs those who are living in Srebrenica. Consciousness is a ruthless judge. One year after the 20th anniversary, while the whole world is looking at us, I can not stop thinking about what is in front of us. The year of 2015 was the year when the whole world came to our yard, touched the white tombstones. And now we are here by ourselves, quietly thinking about what happened to us in the period from 1992 to 1995, and what happened after it,“ said Mayor of Srebrenica.

Numerous invitees today paid the tribute to the murdered victims of Srebrenica genocide, who found their last peace in the Memorial Centre Potocari.

By The Hague Tribunal and the Court of BiH, for genocide committed in Srebrenica in July 1995 were sentenced a total of 38 people to 638 years in prison, and three life sentences.

In 11 years of work, the Court of BiH convicted 24 people, to a total of 448 years in prison, for the most serious crime committed in Europe since World War II.
