Salkic: Armed Attack near Mosque Janja is a Consequence of the Radical Separatist Policies

Vice President of BiH of the entity of Republika Srpska Ramiz Salkić commented today that yesterday morning’s armed attack and verbal insults of Bosniak believers in Janja are a consequence of the radical separatist policies pursued by the authorities in the entity of RS, led by the BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik.

He pointed out that Bosniaks in Janja, as well as Bosniaks in the whole of the entity of RS, are concerned by this development and the lack of a stronger reaction to prevent threats to peace and stability from separatist-oriented extremists.

“A continued political and media campaign aimed at insulting Bosniaks, denying the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, calling for secession, presenting Bosniaks as a threat, aims at the emergence of such attacks on Bosniaks.

This is not the first armed attack on a mosque in Janja, which was destroyed by Serb authorities in 1993. Due to the fact that the previous attacks were not dealt with by the police and judiciary, as well as the fact that the attackers on the mosque were not punished, we are now witnessing new attacks,” he pointed out.

He called on the relevant security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina to step up their activities and presence in the Drina River region to prevent similar incidents that could seriously threaten peace in BiH.
