Sarajevan suffered Heart Attack during the Match between BiH and Italy

A man from Sarajevo, Omar Kuštrić, suffered a heart attack during the match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy, in which the Dragons secured their place at the World Cup.

He shared the news on his Facebook account.

“It seems that I had a heart attack during the match against Italy, or perhaps afterward while we celebrated until morning. The next day I felt pain in my chest, but it felt more like it was in my lungs, as if I had bronchitis or pneumonia,” he said.

He never thought it could be a heart attack.

“That night, I went to the gym. I woke up with heartburn, pain in my bronchi, and a headache, just like the night before, only stronger. I tried to endure it for an hour or two, and when the pain didn’t subside, Alma took me to the ER around 6 a.m. I feltgood, full of energy, joking around, but I noticed the doctors were nervous when the blood test results came in. When they told me they would send me to Koševo and brought a wheelchair to take me to the ambulance, I thought it was an April Fool’s joke.

Later, I found out that if the blood tests show troponin, it almost certainly means that either you have had a heart attack, or that a second one is coming,” he said.

He shared his story to help someone else who may find themselves in a similar situation, so they know how to react.

“I was not even aware of this. I even tried to convince the doctor to release me so I could go home, promising to return in the morning to continue the examination. What an idiot. Just a few hours later, I found myself in the operating room, where they inserted a stent. I have to thank the fantastic team of healthcare workers at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS), especially Dr. Porović and his team, for their quick response and excellent work. When I was taken to Dr. Porović’s operating room, I felt like I was on the Nebuchadnezzar command ship from The Matrix. They wore some kind of leather aprons, colorful bandanas, there were big screens all around, terminals, joysticks, and some incredible technology. It was surreal. They were relaxed, knew exactly what they were doing, and talked with me the whole time, joking around. Experts. We have top experts,” he wrote.
