The Federal Prime Minister and a member of the Shareholders’ Assembly of Elektroprenos Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, along with representatives of the company, officially opened the Sarajevo 12 transformer station today by cutting the ribbon, an investment worth 10.5 million BAM. The new power facility, which was largely constructed through the engagement of domestic companies, represents one of the most significant infrastructure projects for strengthening and modernizing the power grid in Sarajevo.
Nikšić emphasized that the construction of that facility is the result of mutual work and support for projects that contribute to the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s power system.
“I am pleased that we were able to contribute to the adoption of financial plans and the initiation of such projects. It is obvious that it is about a very important and necessary facility,” Nikšić emphasized.
He emphasized that it makes him especially happy that the largest part of the investment was realized through the engagement of domestic companies, confirming that Bosnia and Herzegovina possesses the expert personnel and capacity to execute complex infrastructure projects.
He added that the new substation will bring greater security to the Sarajevo citizens and stability in electricity supply, while also opening up opportunities for new business and investment projects in the area.
General Manager of Elektroprenos Bosnia and Herzegovina, Miro Džakula, said that the need to build the Sarajevo 12 transformer station arose from continuous development and growing electricity consumption in the Novo Sarajevo area.
Džakula recalled that this area was previously supplied from several neighboring substations, which limited network development opportunities and the connection of new users.
“Through the planning and realization of this project, a temporary solution has been replaced by a permanent and contemporary power facility. This is one of the most significant projects for strengthening and modernizing the power infrastructure in the Sarajevo region,” Džakula emphasized.
The new substation is connected to the existing 110 kV network via the Sarajevo 7 and Sarajevo 13 substations and is equipped with the most contemporary protection, management, and monitoring systems.
Two power transformers with a capacity of 40 MVA each have been installed in the facility, which ensures sufficient capacity for current needs, as well as the future development of that part of the city.
The Federal Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry Vedran Lakić assessed that his project represents a significant contribution to a safer electricity supply and the further strengthening of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s power system.
“Sincere congratulations to the management of Elektroprenos led by Director Džakula, as well as to all members of the Management Board of Elektroprenos, and of course to shareholders, the prime ministers of both entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Lakić added.
Member of the Management Board of Elektroprenos Bosnia and Herzegovina, Haris Krvavac said that the opening of the Sarajevo 12 transformer station represents an investment in the security, economy, and the future of Sarajevo, and announced the continuation of the investment cycle and new development projects by the company.
With the opening of TS Sarajevo 12, Sarajevo has gained a modern power facility that will significantly improve the security and reliability of electricity supply, relieve the existing network, and enable higher-quality development of the urban area of Novo Sarajevo and Grbavica.
Among others, the official opening of the Sarajevo 12 transformer station was attended by the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, Mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality, Benjamina Karić, representatives of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Elektroprivreda BiH, members of the Management Board of Elektroprenos BiH, contractors, and business partners.
