Sarajevo International Airport set a new record in 2024, serving as many as 1,821,762 passengers, which represents a growth of as much as 34% compared to 2023.

In addition, a record number of air operations was recorded – a total of 16,836, which is 21% more than the previous year.

During 2024, numerous lines from the list of strategic destinations were introduced, which significantly increased traffic and improved Sarajevo’s connectivity with European and global destinations.

Namely, Ryanair, one of the leading European airlines, launched direct flights from Sarajevo for the first time to London, Brussels, Milan, Gothenburg, Memmingen and Thessaloniki, opening up new tourist and business opportunities for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In October 2024, the airline Wizz Air began its long-awaited operations to Rome.

Other European and global airlines have also expanded their destination network, connecting Sarajevo with numerous cities such as Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Warsaw, Abu Dhabi, Antalya, Izmir.

During 2024, as many as 27 airlines connected Sarajevo with over 30 destinations around the world with regular and charter flights.

Sarajevo International Airport continues to expand its flight network. In the next two years, new routes are planned to be launched to: Berlin, Hanover, Geneva, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, as well as other strategic destinations.

This significant success is the result of joint cooperation between Sarajevo International Airport, the Government of the Sarajevo Canton, the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Economy and the Federation Ministry of Transport and Communications, which, through various initiatives and incentives, significantly contributed to strengthening the tourist offer and created a positive environment in order to attract new airlines and destinations.

Sarajevo International Airport continues to expand its network of destinations and connect Bosnia and Herzegovina with the rest of the world, and new, attractive routes will soon be presented to the public that will further enrich the destination offer for 2025.
