SarajevoSarajevo-a city that is full of a rich cultural and historical offer, this season as well, will offer a lot to tourists. You will find a compound of the Orient and the modern in Sarajevo, and you won’t need a lot of time.

Multiculturalism is what Sarajevo radiates with, bells from the Catholic and Orthodox Churches can be heard at every corner, an in the morning, a call to prayer (ezan) from some of Sarajevo minarets will wake you up. You will also recognize a synagogues.

We talked with Asja Hadziefendic-Mesic, a spokeswomen of the Tourist community of Canton Sarajevo, who talked about the statistics in May, but also about what expects tourists, if they decide to visit the capital of B&H this summer.

“In May 2015, Sarajevo as visited by 44.755 tourists, which is for 24.9% more compared to May last year. Tourists recorded 83.566 overnight stays, which is for 20.1% more compared to the same period of 2014“.

In the structure of total arrivals of tourists, 89.0 % arrivals were recorded by foreign tourists, and 11.00 by the domestic tourists. The most of foreign tourists came from Turkey (26.0%), Croatia (9.7%), South Korea (6.3%), Slovenia (4.9%) and the USA (4.3%).

In the total number of overnight stays, a participation of foreign tourists is 90.5 %, and of the domestic ones 9.5%. An average stay of tourists in May 2015 was 1.8 overnight stays. An average number of stays per bed amounted to 9.5. That is a statistics when it comes to May, nut also June, July and August have a rich offer in our city. Numerous musical and cultural manifestation, night life, city noise, are just some part of the everyday offer. Of course, our guides will do their best to justify the epithet of Sarajevo as a hit destination of this summer“, said Hadziefendic-Mesic.
