The Sarajevo Canton Assembly adopted the cantonal budget for this year in the amount of 989,264,434 BAM, Fena news agency reports.

Cantonal Finance Minister Jasmin Halebic said that the adopted budget, of almost 1 billion BAM, consists of income and expenditure accounts, capital receipts and expenditures accounts and financing accounts.

They increased the funds for health care, for capital projects for solving youth problems, their employment, education, infrastructure, and economy.

Halebic explained that there were some changes in this year’s budget, and one of these changes relates to the methodology of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ministry of Finance of the Sarajevo Canton, which prevents reallocations, but also methods that will facilitate communication with the Federation of BiH.

The development budget is 170 million BAM, the accumulated deficit is 33 million BAM, and the previous year ended with a current surplus of 5 million BAM.

The Sarajevo Canton debt is around 165 million BAM, of which 65 percent is external and the rest is domestic debt.
