The Government of the Sarajevo Canton has been continuously conducting an open dialogue with the Association of Employers in the Federation of BiH and the Association of Employers of Sarajevo Canton, and the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, has emphasized the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in creating a more favorable business environment.
“We have regular meetings with the Association of Employers and I am convinced that this dialogue is of exceptional importance. I am encouraged by the results of the meetings so far. Over the past years, we have managed to realize numerous conclusions, although we are aware that there is still a lot of work ahead of us,” said Uk.
At the last meeting, as he stated, amendments to the Law on Concessions were announced, which will abolish the obligation to pay concessions for the use of solar energy, which represents an important step towards greater energy independence and support for green investments.
In addition, a plan for reforming the system of calculating municipal fees for waste collection for legal entities was presented, with the aim of regulating this area more fairly and efficiently.
“The Cantonal Government, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics, is currently working on the preparation of a catalogue of public-private projects, as well as on the development of a feasibility study for the largest industrial zone in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Doglodi,” emphasized Uk.
The President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Employers’ Association Suad Ećo said that they are satisfied with the reactions of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Economy to the initiative of the Association, regarding the cancellation of concessions to businessmen for the use of solar energy for solar power plants built on their own facilities, i.e. facilities,
“We hope that they will be canceled as soon as possible, as well as that the administrative procedures for issuing them will be reduced and simplified,” said Ećo.
The employers emphasized the importance of finally resolving the price of utility services, i.e. garbage collection for the economy in Cantonal Government, but also the slowness in resolving numerous parafiscal charges, especially the tourist tax.
Also, this association is seeking the simplification of procedures and the reduction of bureaucracy, business costs, and the provision of business zones in the Canton.
Ećo said that it is necessary to continue close cooperation in the implementation of projects in the field of economy, but also projects to support employment in the Sarajevo Canton.
He concluded that all activities are aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the Sarajevo Canton economy and creating preconditions for stronger economic development, the Protocol and Press Service of the Canton announced.
