Sarajevo confirms new Cases of COVID-19 and New Deaths

After the analysis of 261 samples, collected in the period from 31.12.2020. as of January 2 this year, 35 newly infected people with coronavirus had been confirmed in Sarajevo Canton.

Of this number, 24 infected persons, or 68.50 percent, belong to the family clusters or contacts of patients from before, and they are in self-isolation from before.

At the same time, 62 people recovered from the infectious disease Covid-19, which continues the positive trend of a higher number of recovering than the number of newly infected with this virus in the Sarajevo Canton.

A total of 141 people were hospitalized at the clinics and the Isolation Clinic of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo in Podhrastovi (88), and at the General Hospital “Prof.dr. Abdulah Nakaš” (55), six of them at KCUS and one at the General Hospital using mechanical respiratory support when breathing.

A total of 12 patients are on non-invasive ventilation. In the past 24 hours, nine people were discharged from this hospital treatment. Unfortunately, there were also three deaths, so the death toll caused by the coronavirus increased to 389 people.

Currently, 1,146 cases of coronavirus infection are active in Sarajevo Canton. From January 30, 2020 to January 2 this year, a total of 24,400 people infected with coronavirus were registered, of which 22,865 recovered from the infectious disease Covid-19.
