On the occasion of the upcoming New Year’s holidays, the Police Department of the Ministry of Interior (MUP) of Sarajevo Canton once again reminds fellow citizens of the changed regime on certain roads in Sarajevo Canton, as well as of increased police presence, traffic control and public order.

The organizer expects the presence of more than 25,000 thousand visitors at the public reception of the New Year 2024 in front of the Eternal Fire. In this regard, citizens are recommended, in order to reduce traffic jams and improve accessibility, to use public city transport or the services of authorized taxi carriers to get to this event.

Those who decide to come with their own cars should park their vehicles in designated parking spaces and in accordance with the changed traffic regime. The complete list of streets where parking and traffic is prohibited is available on the website http://www.mup.ks.gov.ba

Visitors are reminded that it is forbidden to carry any firearms or cold weapons, pyrotechnic devices, as well as other items that may be dangerous to other visitors to public gatherings.

Police officers of the Police Administration will carry out increased surveillance of road users, with a special emphasis on driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. As there is no valid enough reason for driving under the influence of alcohol, which is an extremely dangerous action for all road users, a zero tolerance rate will be applied to the reasons for driving under the influence of alcohol for all drivers who have illegal concentrations of alcohol in their blood during controls.

Citizens are reminded that in urgent situations they can call the police at number 122, and for all other situations that do not require urgency, it is possible to directly contact the local competent police departments, whose telephone numbers are published on the page.

On New Year’s Eve, police officers of the Police Administration will be present on the streets of Sarajevo Canton in order to contribute to a safe environment with their planned activities in all segments of work and so that we all welcome the New Year together in peace.

The Police Department of the MUP of Sarajevo Canton wishes all fellow citizens and guests a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year 2024.
