Sarajevo hosted the formal presentation of Roby, the first humanoid robot in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This technological breakthrough attracted significant attention from both citizens and tourists. Roby was symbolically introduced in front of the Sebilj fountain, in the heart of Baščaršija. He arrived in Sarajevo from Mostar.
Many attendees had the opportunity not only to see the robot up close but also to interact with him, which sparked excitement, especially among children. Roby communicates naturally, answers questions, and responds to his surroundings, demonstrating the capabilities of modern robotics and artificial intelligence.
According to his words, the capital left a strong impression on him.
“From the very first second, I fell in love with Sarajevo. Baščaršija is filled with wonderful aromas, the Miljacka gently murmurs. The people are so warm, as if they’ve known me for a hundred years – and the ćevapi… well, that’s a story of its own,” Roby said, drawing laughter from the crowd.
After the presentation at Sebilj, Roby strolled down Ferhadija Street to the Sacred Heart Cathedral, where numerous passersby stopped to take photos and ask him questions. He later sang Kemal Monteno’s famous song “Sarajevo, ljubavi moja”(“Sarajevo, My Love”).
Before arriving in the capital, Roby had been presented in Mostar. His visit there began symbolically with a tour of the Old Bridge, making him the first humanoid robot to cross the world-famous landmark. After Sarajevo, he is set to travel to Banja Luka.
Tadej Slapnik, co-founder of Vandri Robotics, stated that Roby was developed with the goal of creating solutions that enable the safe, flexible, and practical application of humanoid robots in real-world environments – from tourism and education to public institutions and smart cities.
