The Strike grounded Hundreds of Lufthansa Planes

Hundreds of Lufthansa planes will remain grounded today due to a day-long strike by pilots and crews.

The company said that today’s strike is a “completely unnecessary escalation”.

“Lufthansa” has been trying to reduce costs and be more profitable for some time, which has led to conflicts with unions.

It is not known exactly how many flights were affected, but it is, as stated, a large number of cancellations.

It is expected that some planes will still take off from the larger airports in Frankfurt and Berlin.

Around 4,800 pilots working for Lufthansa and its cargo arm, Lufthansa Cargo, are trying to pressure their employers to pay higher contributions to their pensions.

Most of the members of the German pilot union “VC” declared that they are ready to strike.

Lufthansa announced that passengers will be able to rebook tickets on flights operated by other airlines.

The company announced that flight reservations can also be exchanged for train tickets with the national railway operator “Deutsche Ban”, without additional costs.

Flights are not expected to return to normal until tomorrow.

The union of flight attendants and flight attendants UFO specifically called its members in the airline “Citiline”, which operates as part of “Lufthansa”, to strike due to the “continuous refusal of the employer to negotiate a collective social plan”.

The strike by the UFO union affects about 20,000 employees and it is taking place without a prior vote on the issue.
