Sarajevo: In January Most Tourists From Croatia, Serbia and Turkey

In Canton Sarajevo in January 2013 there were 11,879 tourists, which is a 12.4 percent increase in comparison to January of last year.

Tourists accounted for 25,218 overnight stays, which is a 14.9 percent increase in comparison to the same period in 2012.

Of the total tourists in Canton Sarajevo, 68.4 percent were foreigners, while 31.6 percent came from BiH.

The most number of tourists came from Croatia (38.7 percent), Serbia (7.4 percent), Slovenia (6.9 percent) and Montenegro (3.4 percent).

Of the total overnight stays, 72.9 percent were foreigners, while 27.1 percent were tourists from BiH.

The most number of overnight stays by foreign tourists were from Croatia (37 percent), Serbia (6.4 percent), Turkey (6.3 percent) and Montenegro (3.8 percent).

The average stay of tourists in January 2013 was 2.1 nights.

The longest stay in Sarajevo was by tourists from Chile (10.7 nights), Belgium (5.1 nights), Kuwait (4.6 nights), Ireland (4.3 nights), USA (3.4 nights), Great Britain (3.2 nights), the Netherlands (3 nights) and Greece (2.9 nights).

In January 2013 tourists from 78 countries visited Canton Sarajevo, and the occupancy capacity stood at 21.4 percent in terms of room occupancy, respectively 11.3 percent in terms of bed occupancy.
