Sarajevo Mayor: The Aggressors failed to kill our Spirit

Sarajevo fought and defended. After the longest siege in the modern history of warfare, it is no longer the same, but it is still open to everyone.

The mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic, says that we feel sad because of everything we have experienced, but also a certain fear because we see that everything that happened to Sarajevo and BiH can happen again in Europe in 2022.

“We must nurture a culture of remembrance just as the aggression on BiH, the siege of the City of Sarajevo would never happen again. Despite all the horrors that the citizens of this beautiful city went through, the aggressors failed to kill our spirit and we are certainly with all those memories we also have the emotions we carry from our history ready to move into a beautiful future that will be geared towards young people and prosperity. ”

She points out that the greatest strength of Sarajevo was our Bosnian spirit.

“Our Sarajevo defiance is indestructible. We in Sarajevo nurture philanthropy and the most valuable thing we have are our people. Thanks to the strength of our Bosnian man, we have managed to resist aggression and everything we have gone through.”

Karic stated that we have very smart and promising young people and we need to focus all our energy on them.

“Make conditions for them so that they do not pack their suitcases and so that they can reach their full potential in BiH. I believe in our youth and I believe that young people from BiH will fight for their place under our BiH sky.”

“I am proud of everything I have done for the benefit of our citizens, whether it is infrastructure projects, projects in the field of culture, science, sports and art. The most important thing is to work honestly and fairly, transparently, and completely luck will surely follow us and we will have a good wind in our backs. May our City live forever and may our homeland BiH live forever “, concluded Karic.
