At the music academy in Sarajevo, the third Sarajevo Chamber Music Festival will open. For eight days, it will gather 54 students of music from B&H and countries in the region, announced the organizers.
In the eight festival days, students will intensively practice and study some of the most significant chamber music works with top musical artists of today.
Students, as well as the Sarajevo public, will have the opportunity to participate in a series of concerts of international artists, starting with the inaugural concert of the Manhattan String Quartet and the violinist Lech Antonia Uszynskog on 28 August.
Students, including students of stringed instruments, clarinet, flute and piano from ten music academies in B&H, Croatia, Serbia and Austria will participate this year in all festival activities.
Participants will practice daily with SCMI lecturers, members of Manhattan String Quartet made up of Curtis Macomber, Calvin Wiersma, John Dexter and Chris Finckel and violinist Deborah Wong, violoncellist Belma Alić and pianist Dino Mulić
In addition to regular lectures with students, guests of this year’s festival will also actively participate. The Swiss violinist Lech Antonio Uszynski will hold a master workshop for participants on 27 August and the American pianist Christopher Taylor will hold a lecture on 29 August and present to students work by Olivier Messiaen Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus.
The master workshop by Turkish violinist Cihat Aşkin will be held on 31 August, and on the next day students will have the chance to participate in a workshop and lectures by American clarinetist Stanley Drucker.
During the workshops and lectures, participants of SCMI, divided into various chamber ensembles and guided by their mentors, will intensively work on training for the masterpieces of chamber music composers Johannes Brahms, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Gabriel Fauré, Felix Mendelssohn, and Bohuslav Martinu.
The results of the work will be presented at the concert of participants of SCMI that will be held on 2 September at the Music Academy in Sarajevo.
